Although, I gotta say, I'm not positive that the survivors from the bay area would have renamed the bay after old Gaspar, and not, say, Cesar Chavez, or something. There's been a lot of backlash against the spanish explorers over the last 20 years. Then again, this is a world that decided that the british monarchy was the bee's knees again, so...
