It seems like we've developed a trend - people are racing to post a 'first post' messaged every time we put something up.

This is really just childish - who cares? So what if you're first?

I know I'd be a lot more impressed by the person who posts first after reading the story.

So, please, cut it out. If you see a new story is up, don't run off to post about it. Read it, and if you have something to say, then post. It'd be a lot better to have a thread start with some content.

--First Post is the act of noticing an update to a website and attempting to be the very first user of an associated forum to comment on it. This would be fine, except that in the quest for speed, First Posters have totally eliminated quality. First Posts often consist of nothing more than the words "First Post" <or alternately "Frost Pist">. This phenomenon is most visible on the web site Slashdot.org, but it has been seen elsewhere. Here on the EPU forums it has taken the form of one RCW or another redundantly informing the rest that <EPU Universe X> has a new story in it.

This practice tends to irritate the owners of the afflicted forums.

I'm afraid it was me that broke the camel's back. Note that it was meant to be a parody of a real "first post", but it set things off, so I won't do it again, not that I was going to anyway.

WHoAA!! Look the owners have added a new rule! Didd'nt see it last
time around!

Colors?? what colors do you mean? everything is in various shades of
black and white.
