#0, HOLY MOTHER OF GUACAMOLE!!

I just watche a fansub of the first episode of Macross Zero (it's on KaZaA, 225Mb) and all I can say is that it's the most beutifully blended 2d and 3d I've ever seen, and the quick glimpses of the mecha that you get promise to be some of the best looking yet - the VF-0, despite being earlier in continuity, is a smoother and more ronuded VF-1, while the enemy variable fighter looks like on antecendant of the VF-10/VF-14/FZ-109/AZ-130 family. If you have any possibility of seeing this, go for it! The subttles are a little off timed here and there, but not too badly.

Kazaa? Umm, dude, I don't mean to be rude or anything, but that stuff ain't exactly healthy for your comp. Never-ever-ever-ever-EVER!!! use software that has no uninstaller. It's like trying to get AOL off your comp; near freakin impossible. I myself prefer WinMX. Que lengths are hellacious, but it's great for real power-users.

Anywho... *Tacks another anime on the "Watch for" list.*

Well, considering that I'm using Virtual PC on a Mac and can save a backup of the machine image pretty much any time I want, uninstallers or the lack of them becomes something of a moot point, but the reason I picked KaZaA was that I wanted to avoid long ques, and I was told that that it was dripping with fansubs. These have only turned out to be partly true... I'd still rather have shrt ques (wouldn't anybody?) but if anyoe has suggestions for different networks that have a good fansub saturation I'd be happy to hear about them.

Oh, and while you've got the 'anime to watch for' file open, add _Read or Die_ to it. It's like a superhero-librarian-spy movie, except it's done in three episodes. The heroine's LQ look a lot like mine, which I find perhaps disproportionaltely amusing.

Read or Die is a good one. They did a great job with it.

Oddly enough, as I was watching it I kept saying to myself that I could _so_ see her as a member or assosciated faculty member of the DSM Duelists' Society, as if the Symphony cast wasn't already plenty large, especially during her fight with the electric-samurai guy where she makes a short sword out of the fixer-type's roll of money. (not to mention the hint of lesbian themes here and there...) Perhaps someday you'll happen on just the place to slip her into continuity, but even if you don't at least there's the original show to enjoy.

Apparently there's a semi-sequel to it called _Read or Dream_ (Bwah?) starring three sisters with similar powers to Yomiko, but aside from that rather unpromising bit of information I haven't seen anything about it.

Seconded, majorly bigtime. This is some really, really great supers action in a world that doesn't work like your usual super-hero world. I am so enamoured of this show that I am seriously considering adding the Read-Or-Die folks to Warriors' World (the London-based V&V campaign from which sprung both my book GURPS International Super Teams and my fanfic series Drunkard's Walk).

They did a great job with this ep. It looks like its a five ep prequel occuring one year before the start of Macross. Ep 2 is supposed to be out in Japan this spring.

Aye.

In response to another message, the VF-0 is an atmospheric optimized version of the VF-1 with some advanced features not in the production VF-1's, but limited by the conventional jet engines used to power the VF-0. (Production difficulties with the thermonuclear reaction engines, ya know.)
