Nah- the World Court Trial is *when* the Prof got hurt, neccesitating a medical evac by Lilandra (Shiar Empress and chuck's honey). Magneto, under the alias Michael Xavier, took over the day-to-day running of the school and training the New Mutants. He also went adventuring with the X-Men (This was around the same time as Secret Wars II, if that helps place it in anyone's memories. I was a good period of X-Men history, IMHO, though it seemes to have been completely ignored by latter-day X-Writers.) The Bush/Saddam parallel ain't really a good one for Mags and Chuck.(At least, during the Claremont Years) Think more like Malcolm X and Martin Luther King- same goals, different methodologies.

About the story itself- I really enjoyed this one, Ben. I, too was an X-Fan in the halcyon days of the eighties and early nineties, and this brought back a lot of fond memories. A real ripping yarn, with terrific characterization- The Doc Doom third-person-speech, the Jubilee wisecracks... I really hope you plan on using at least some of the Marvel Refugees in future UF stories- Kurt and Kitty would fit in wonderfully with Kaitlyn's clique, (And I'd love to see Urd and Kurt flirt)and the very idea of Doom taking over (or opposing, for that matter) Big Fire has got loads of story potential. Or Maybe Logan vs. Jackie Chan? (Just sparring, mind...) the mind boggles. A few particular points- not gripes, just comments or questions:

-Department H. These guys kill me. Actually, John Byrne kills me for even coming up with these guys. The idea that the Canadian Government could fund and run a hi-tech shadow government capable of producing super-powered operatives amuses me no end, always has. I don't know if this was one of your jabs at Marvel, or just playing with the Milieu, but when Don, when looking for his missing TARDIS, basically says "The Canadians! Of Course!" I almost died laughing. So very Marvel.

-Rachel Summers: I realize that the whole Phoenix Force thing is something you really might not want floating about in the UF Universe, but I still think it's a shame Don couldn't save her, too. I've really missed her in recent years, she was one of my faves, too.

-Logan: Get this guy to join the Freespacers! He'd *love* it there. Either that or have him emigrate to Tomodachi a.k.a. Ninja Paradise...

Anyway, loved it, and would happily read any future stories featuring these characters. Good job.
