Though the first thing I thought of when I saw the title was a Punisher alternate-universe one-shot I read once called The Punisher Kills the Marvel Universe. Silly title, execution rather dark; in it, instead of Frank Castle's family being killed by a car bomb, they're killed in the crossfire of a costume fight in Central Park -- IIRC, the only people that Frank doesn't manage to get out in time.

So, when Cyclops tries to apologize, Frank blows his head off. I think he took one or two others with him before they took him down... and then he was broken out by a group of people who were similarly caught as innocent bystanders in costume battles. They outfit him to hunt costumes, and he proceeds to kill every single super in the Marvel universe -- Wolverine is the final kill. Then he kills himself, as he realizes that he's become the very thing he was fighting by then.

Needless to say, I went into the story in a rather odd frame of mind.
