Don't know about Gryphon, but my dislike for Scott "I can't make a command decision to save my life" Summers has something to do with his going walkabout for years after getting married, then wandering back into the team after his wife turns out to be a clone of Jeanne - and expecting the team to just accept him as their fearless leader, despite his total lack of qualifications (you know, like the ability to make command decisions, knowledge of the resources his team has available and how best to use them, etc.) for the job.

Oh yeah, the ramrod up his rear didn't help matters, either.
