Yep, that was Remembrance of the Daleks, the last Daleks episode. The reference itself barely misses being circular, too, and I'm a little stunned that the writers either missed it or passed it up. I remember doping out from dates mentioned in the novelization that the episode Ace missed watching was the very first one, An Unearthly Child, which aired November 23, 1963. If they'd set the story just a month later, she'd have switched off the opening of the first episode of the second story - The Daleks.

On the other hand, the first scene in Remembrance with an actual Dalek in it takes place in the junkyard at No. 76 Totters Lane, Shoreditch, which was where the TARDIS was parked in An Unearthly Child when the two schoolteachers followed the Doctor's granddaughter to it and started the whole series off in the first place. (At one point the Doctor tells someone about some feature of the yard, and when asked how he knows that, he replies peevishly, "I've been here before.") So I guess that's just as circular; only the symmetry in the Dalek connection would have amused me more.
