I seem to remember it being revealed in the mid-50's range of Excaliburthat Kurt had a natural shadowmeld ability that makes him almost invisible in deep shadow...and he also survived thru thirty of forty issues where his ability to teleport was limited to one per day and it left him exhausted and weak. He's a natural acrobat and has been playing around with swords longer than Kait's been alive, and with three swords would be able to defend quite a large portion of his personal space. Fuzzy-elf has also had quite a few more people out to kill him so he's had lots of practice fighting, too.

Besides, the point of a Rose Duel is in the challenge, not the 'I'll turn invisible and bust his rose' sort of instant win...that would alienate people and no one would LEARN anything which is the whole point of the Rose Duels. Kait kicking Utena's butt was for ulterior motives, and other than that, and her trial, she usually didn't use the invisibility trick, did she? Kait would probably win against Kurt anyway but it would be interesting and would cover a lot of ground (and walls and ceiling). An entertaining fight would be Kurt and Sky or Kurt and Liza with lots of flourishes and much Errol-Flynnery abounding, and probably in the case of Liza and Kurt much shameless flirting, as they both do that very well indeed.
