two good points... One that, in fact, the duel between Utena and Kate on the rooftop was also a special case. It was kinda a case of 'you know, we've been sparing for ages, but we've never really gone all out' combined with a bit of friendly rivalry (ala Kate and Juri's 'I yeild to your Kung-fu bit back at the bowling alley)

As to the second... It is well known that Kurt did grow up in and around a circus (at least in the backstory that I remember for him) so I find it totaly believable that he was capable of accuratly wielding a sword in each hand. (Dunno what the style is called when their both the same length, but one short and one long is called Florentine style) The one in the tail, I'd expect was more for area denial rather than serious attack. Still, I hope the SoS muse prompts Gryph to include a duel between Kurt and Liza sometime in the future... I agree that it would be a killer scene, and a lot of fun to read!
