#0, Marvel does it again.

Can I SHOOT whoever comes up with these ideas?

They've actually been letting the dead rest the last few years. Thunderbird died back in the 80s (maybe the late 70's) and has never returned. and in more recent years casulties have included Illayana(sp?) Rasputin(Magick), Moira MacTaggart, Peter Rasputin(Colossus), Betsy Braddock(Psylock), even Magneto seems to be staying dead this time around (of course, due to him and a few million other mutants being murdered by a supersentinel doing a good impression of Hiroshima, he's become something of a martyr).

Short version: Marvel has a book that's a revival of a revivial of an old book that first premiered back in the mid-90s, called eXiles. The original eXiles I remember as being violent, blackly humorous, and more interesting than most X-books. Today's eXiles is just comedic insanity, and it brings back every X-character ever considered dead. Magik. Colossus. Morph. Blink. Ad infinitum.

Illyana and Piotr are new additions (most recent two issues, in fact) to the cast. The other members of the cast I didn't care about, because their deaths were never confirmed. Illyana and Piotr died notable onscreen deaths. Their deaths MEANT SOMETHING. And now this stupid highflyin'-adventure-lovin' comedy series resurrects the two characters who had the most reason to stay dead?

I swear, it pisses me off. I expected better from Marvel.

Are they from a parallel dimension? eXiles does that sometimes.

Yes, they are (at least, Illyana is for sure). But I still accuse them of refusing to let good characters stay dead. I don't like that whole "Oh, they're from a parallel dimension, it's OK" idea. They're called Colossus and Illyana, it's plain they have most of their original personalities, and it's only a short hop from eXiles to another X-book. I dun like it. Pulling people from parallel universes is far too easy. At least when UF does it, the characters have never existed in the universe to begin with (cf. EPUDTMU)!

Sorry if I seem to overreact.

It's your right. And I do think you are overreacting. "Exiles" is, in my opinion, the only good X book in a long line of overrated crap. The dialogue is engaging and the stories are interesting. As an old X-fan, I like it. It's certainly better than some of the sheer crap that has existed in recent years. As for Illyana and Piotr, well, I thought thier deaths were pretty lackluster to begin with. Illyana's death, in particular, seemed to me to be more of a writer shedding what he thought was a useless character than anything meaningful.

But, to each his own. I think "Exiles" is a pretty good book. It's the only Marvel title that I read regularly these days.
