I picked up an issue of this comic today out of curiosity. Aside from Eyrie stuff, the only exposure I've had to the Marvel universe were the two movies.

...apparently Magneto could use his power to hack into nuclear missle silos. *Multiple* silos. Long-distance. After being stabbed clear through the stomach.

If anyone complains that the characters in Eyrie fics are overpowered, I will laugh at them.

Oh, Magneto's been a heavy hitter in the comics for a while.

I seem to recall him using magnetic fields to bend LIGHT at some point or another too. In all honesty, they just throw the word 'magnetism' into whatever declaration he makes when he does somehting outrageous and handwave it. At least some supervillains, such as Divis Mal, were ADMITTED to have no known limits to their powers. 9.9;;

The fact that you can bend light with a powerful enough magnetic field does not take me by surprise at all. It is, after all, one of the most basic forms of energy in the universe. The magnetic attraction does play a much larger role than most people think.

I'll admit right away, the guy is overpowered. But he is Marvel's toy to play with. Whether we actually read the stuff is up to us.

As far as I know, light can be bent by gravity, but not magnetism.

Edit: Actually, it can. Very minutely. And it requires light to decay, briefly, into an electron and a positron first.. then you can try to bend it. But more often you would, in theory, create a scattering of weaker photons instead along the original path. This is assuming you could find a magnet BIG enough.. (we're talking unpelasant math here kids).. and didn't unwittingly cause a M/AM explosion in the process, which would do an excellent job of scattering YOU.

Sheesh! At least when Alita generates/handles plasma it's all explained away. =p
