I've got to say, Gryphon, I am duly impressed and awed just how well you captured the CoH mythos. Gosh, "captured" doesn't even begin to describe it. You aligned it, I should say. Having Adam live in Kings Row floored me, because quite frankly it never even occurred to me that people lived there.

You're version of Paragon City, Liberty Belle, and the heroes within is brilliant. You even gave Liberty Belle a personality! You took an NPC and turned her into a heroic icon. That's perfect! She even sounds/feels like a "Liberty Belle" would: cautious, optimistic, serious, some how both big sisterly and neice-like.

If it's okay to say, I'm a bit jealous at just how well you SEE the game. Bravo! Here's hoping that there's more to come. :)

Oh, hey, you do that too? I'm constantly mislabeling Ms. Liberty (the Atlas Park trainer NPC) with the name of Liberty Belle, who was actually a Golden Age DC character, in my head. It's probably because Ms. Liberty wears that Liberty Bell belt buckle...

Heck, I made a reference of a sort to her - the modern Ms. Liberty's great-grandmother, the original Miss Liberty who was one of the Silver Specter's Justice Guild teammates, was named Libby after Libby Lawrence (Liberty Belle's real name). The Specter slips and calls Liz Franklin, the modern Ms. Liberty, "Libby" at one point.

As for the Specter living in Kings Row, one thing I didn't really have a place to mention in "Starting Over" was that the Silver Specter was often associated with the poorer parts of the city in the old days. He was a great believer in the law-abiding, decent nature of the bulk of the city's poor, and did whatever he could to help them improve their condition. In fact, when he retired from costumed heroing in 1970, it was to head up the Banks Foundation, a philanthropic organization dedicated to helping the blue-collar working poor of Kings Row and Independence Port. (The Foundation is no more, but that's another story, and not one the Specter likes to tell.)

Anyway, thanks, I'm glad you liked it. I was pretty much flying blind when it came to characterizing the canonical Freedom Phalanx members, since all they really do in the game is stand there, so my interpretations of Ms. Liberty and Mynx may be wildly off what anybody over at Cryptic might have in mind, but I had fun working with them. Nowadays, the park in Skyway City where Mynx hangs out is the Silver Specter's usual logout spot. :)

I'll have to get Parity over to Skyway City sometime and meet Mynx now that (a) I know where she is and (b) know she's a canon character in the game. I was mis-thinking that she was one of Robotech_Master's characters (that he's posted in his LJ), actually. Cool.

Nope, she's the level trainer for Skyway City. She hangs out in that park near the tram station, not far from Synapse, the zone's task-force contact. (There's an exploration badge whose accompanying text indicates that Synapse trained her as a crimefighter, in fact.)

Lots of people live in Kings Row. Some good, some bad, mostly just ordinary people trying to get by.

For another perspective, check out Death From Below, a KR-based supergroup led by the alter-ego of another fine fan-author, Stefan "Twoflower" Gagne.

I know this guy. Another awesome author only rivaled by Gryphon, IMHO. He wrote a very wonderful original fiction called "Unreal Estate". Very kewl stuff.
