I've been using Helios TextPad for as long as I had an Internet connection. I'm still using version 4.1.0, even though in my case the reason is more not to burden my aging computer than anything else. Even so, it fulfills all my needs in both the fanficiton writing area and the xhtml coding one- with a little help from HTML tidy.

The discovery of the FFF tool fixed my only gripe about this editor- well, almost. Ever since reading SotS, I wish it were able to align text to center and work with columns.. I had a brief association with Emacs as part of my self-study of Linux, and though I must bow to his awesome power, we just weren't meant to be together :)
