In Eyrie Productions Destroys the Marvel Universe, there's a scene in which Pete Rasputin and Kurt Wagner are not-really-watching TV. A number of readers picked up on the relatively obvious fact that what they're watching is an old Doctor Who rerun. For the record, the episode they're watching is from the third-season 12-parter The Daleks' Master Plan. This is a double joke: one, they're watching Doctor Who; and two, they're watching an episode that they couldn't possibly have been watching, since The Daleks' Master Plan is mostly lost. Only episodes 2, 5, and 10 still exist, thanks to the BBC's rather careless housekeeping policies in the 1960s and '70s. --G. -><- Benjamin D. *snickers briefly*If I had to take a guess on what that means in-story, this is either dimensional variance at work or the fact that they knew several time travelers, at least a few of whom could have gone back, recorded the episode, and brought the tape forward in time. Out of the story, however? Nice one.

See, if the timestream hadn't been altered, the episode would have been lost. But since there was all this tinkering with time, one of the side effects was... ...okay, I'll stop now. LAST EDITED ON Dec-21-11 AT 03:37 PM (EST) Are you suggesting they were able to watch those episodes because Gryphon punched reality?

>Are you suggesting they were able to watch those episodes because >Gryphon punched reality? >Absolutely not! Gryphon wasn't there. Gryphon is a character in the UF universe. EPDTMU was set in the Marvel universe. Honestly, this isn't all that complex... A funny thing about FTL travel is that someone could race to a point Out There Somewhere and record the original transmissions. Something like SETI but in reverse.

The BBC did a Sixth-Doctor novel based on this premise. Title was Synthespians, and we get to meet a space-station full of idle rich who live in a society patterned after 20th century television...

I know at least 3 Doctor Who fans who, with access to a starship, would think it worth trying.

There's been rumors floating around for years that there's lost DW episodes that have been hoarded by collectors, or stuck in a deep dark corner of a TV vault in a country that was once was part of the British Empire. Every couple of years, a story pops up about this missing episode or that missing episode.90% of the time, there's no truth to the rumors, but every so often there's a real story -- Like the discovery of the intact story Tomb of the Cybermen in Hong Kong some years ago -- that keeps the fires of hope burning. Of course, with a TARDIS and some recording equipment, it wouldn't take much to recored the episodes.... B-) Craig

Or maybe the episodes are missing in the first place because somebody with a time machine "borrowed" them. I mean, if you were a Time Lord, wouldn't you rescue the lost episodes? :)Heck, it doesn't even cause a paradox. The episodes are missing in the future, and you're just making sure that they do go missing as they should.
