I'm bored at work and decided to cruise around the website. I clicked on the store link and imagine my surprise when I got a 404 error on the cafe press webpage. I can't remember seeing anything about the store going down. (now that I think about it there is a fuzzy memory that is surfacing about something along those lines).

And why weren't -we- informed of that either? *mock grumble*

...Unless he means the Lab and Grill, which seems to be in the middle of a total cataclysm cycle at the moment.

It was the one for the DSMMHS Duelist's Society t-shirts/etc, as I recall.

Not only is there a store, there are 2 stores. Think back about 10 years. An archive search (keywords I used are 'cafe' and 'press') will return various discussion threads from the time.

Bob Schroeck set up the stores, with what I assume was management approval (since forum management was taking part in the discussions). One store is for the Eyrie Rabid Crack Weasel Corps, and the other is the DSMMI Duelists Store. Absolutely no idea if they're still active but they're both still there, and the items for sale are still shown. (shirts, mugs, coasters, mouse pads, clocks, Phil Moyer art, baby bibs, boxers, thongs - the usual sort of thing)

(no, the part about selling thongs is not a joke)

They both appear to be functional, though I haven't bought anything yet to check.

If I weren't broke, I'd order something. It does leave use with the question 'Where does the money go?', though. Apparently not to Gryphon, or he'd know that the stores were there.

There is no money to go anywhere, at least at the Duelists' store. Everything there is on a zero markup, which means I make no money from it, and Cafepress gets everything you spend.

The Weasels one was mine, and I no longer have any idea as to anything that could be done with it. I don't think I even have access to that email account anymore.

(And my own shirt is long disintegrated into nothingness.)

I was planning on getting something when the black hole that is my house decided to regurgitate some of the money that it likes to pull in. I was thinking the couch cushions were suspect...

Oh! OK. That's why I didn't recognize the pattern - neither one of those was ever "official". I knew about both of them, but apart from facepalming at Geoff for perpetuating the "crack weasels" thing and telling Bob I didn't mind if he did the Duelist shirts (I think I may also have at least tacitly signed off on the design), I didn't have any direct involvement with either. Certainly the money doesn't come here. I never wanted it to. IP litigation being what it is, I'm a tad bit phobic about even appearing to derive any sort of income from EPU, much less actually doing so.

I also either have forgotten or didn't know we had a link to either one anywhere, apart from in ancient Forum posts. Still can't think where it would be if we do; I just looked at the (let's be honest, long-fossilized) Stuff page and over on the Lab & Grill (which looks to me like it's working fine); no soap.

Yea, I figured out that it was my browser giving me crap on the Lab & Grill (stupid change to Comcast screwed up all my browser settings...), so ixnay on that.

Correction: I only set up the Duelists' Store, which is very much still there.
