#0, Historical Record: EPU Publication Dates
Posted by jonathanlennox on Jun-19-02 at 03:34 PM
Remember a while back when I posted a list of the dates that all of UF had first been published?

It occured to me yesterday that now that Google Groups has a complete Usenet archive going all the way back to before many RCWs were born, I can do a lot better than my old version of the list.

While I was at it, I decided to add the other EPU universes as well.

So, I present:
http://www.cs.columbia.edu/~lennox/epu-pubs-date.html

Enjoy!

A few notes:
* I haven't included the dates of anything from 2001 on, since that's the point at which we get into SoS, and I don't feel like keeping up with it. It's not really necessary, since the What's New page should cover these postings (if a "What Previously Was New" is set up).

* I haven't included .45 Caliber Angel, since I wasn't able to find any documentation on the net of when it was written. It wasn't posted to Usenet, and Steve Jackson Games's web archive of the In Nomine mailing list doesn't contain it.

* It's interesting the posts that don't appear in Google Groups; I've noted all of these as they occur. I forgot just how lousy propagation really was, back in the old days. Some other missing posts are probably the result of the DejaNews to Google Groups transition.

* It looks like NXE 3:6 never got posted to Usenet, since not only doesn't it show up on Google Groups, it's also not in the raac archive.

* I've included dates of, and links to, two non-canon pieces, the UF Technical Readout and Kelly St. Clair's "UF SD". If anyone has problems with this, let me know. (I figure, though, that since Megazone approved the posting of UF SD to raas in his role as moderator, back in the day, he's still okay with it.)

* If the EPU folks want to host any of this information on Eyrie, I'd be honored. The html is actually the product of a raw data file and a Perl script. I can send both, if you'd like to reformat things to better fit the eyrie-productions.com graphical appearance.

* November 13, 1991, was the day that Megazone first announced "a very strange work of fiction involving our college and the Dirty Pair" to rec.arts.anime. I propose that the RCWs declare November 13th to be Eyrie Day, in celebration! Or something like that.

* Yes, I really am the champion of work-avoidance.

There was a stale NFS handle between my file server and the web server. It seems to be fixed now.

Can you try again?

The irony is painful. On the other hand, it's not a 404. Or the lyrics to 'Summer Wonderland'...a song which 'We Will Win' has NOTHING on.

Ah, now I remember.

I was soooo happy to be in an internet cafe in Dubai and find online a new chapter of NXE...

Deployment in 2000 was not fun.

Nice to see I have been reading for a good portion of the creative life of EPU.

And of course I look forard to more.
