Ok, I know we have some Marathon fans out here, and I just got this, and wow, does it rock :)

http://resurrection.bungie.org/

basically, waht it is, is a total conversion for "Unreal Tournament"

Admittedly, it's still beta...none of the aliens have been ported
but:
1) all the weapons have been ported
2) many multi-player maps have been ported
3) multi-player most truly kicks large amounts of butt (usually mine :/ )

anywho, for those with a copy of Unreal:Tournament taking up space (or an extra $20, which is what "Totally Unreal" is going for at the local Best Try...err...Buy), you can now have Truly Nifty Marathon Action (tm) with a nice polygonal game engine

(of course, halo will beat the pants off this, except it's only coming out for &^%$*^$* XboX...feh)

just figured I'd share the joy :)

Err, no. Halo is going to be availible for XBox, PC and Mac.
If it was XBox only Jason Jones et al. would be hunted down like dogs.
The ads say XBox only because Microsoft wants you to buy one.
Of course, if you're going to get it for your desktop it better be pretty beefy.
This is part of the reason I bought my G4, the more immediate one being Oni.

ah...I should've figured it was macro$loth propoganda
after all, considering Bungie's origins, I'd imagine they would commit honorable suicide before making something XboX only ;)

and I have a 1GHz athlon, ona PC2100 motherboard, with a GeForce3 video card
my only problem now is a distinct lack of funds :)

Yay Bungie!

You forgot to share one, thing:
That the Linux port of UT is supported by Epic, courtesy of Loki Games.

Ah! neat!

it was more of a "didn't know" than a "forgot" thing though... my linux box is a server
my workstation is a windows box...

that's nice to know, because between that, and aleph one we should have complete marathonage for all platforms :)

now, if I could only stop getting 0wned so badly...

just to let everyone know, since I seem to have become something of hte board's resident marathon activist...

There is another mod for UT, called "Marathon|rampancy".

Unlike resurrection, this one does NOT try to recreate marathon completely.
it does, however, duplicate the weapons and, to a large extent, the multiplayer experience.

personall, I prefer resurrection (especially with it's potential), but I figured I'd plug rampancy as well (besides, it's gota cool name ;)

get it here
