"Vahlen" is a pseudonym. You know how Fronkensteen in Young Frankenstein was so bothered about being stigmatized by the memory of his mad ancestor? Moira was like that too as a teenager. When she applied to Zürich University, she got partway into writing down her surname on the form when she had the sudden impulse to distance herself from her father's legacy...... because her birth name is obviously Moira Vahzilok. --G.
