Well, the ending would be NXE the Movie: Apothisis Now. In it Gryph promised that he'd tie up the lose ends.

At one point there was a rumored release date of winter last; however, Rule 1 still applies: Do not ask when pending projects will be completed. We do not know.

So, at this point, all we can do is wait for the NXE muse to happen by the wilds of Maine and mug Gryphon into finishing the tale! As for when? Who knows... not even Gryph. Could be tomorrow, could be a year from now... no one knows except the muse that prompts Gryph to write NXE. And she's not talking.

But the real question that's on all of our minds is: How much for her to fly up to the Wilds of Maine and mug Gryphon into finishing the series. ;-)
