How similar HST and Johnny Depp look. Now, I know that Depp played the doctor in the movie, but still. My instant response was that it WAS HST, in the following image.

http://www.imdb.com/media/rm2270295552/tt1355683?ref_=tt_ov_i#

That looks nothing like the Depp I picture in my mind, and a LOT like HST.
(and I DO hope that link works...it did for me, but...)

Mind unpacking a bit? The only expansion for "HST" I know is "Harmonized Sales Tax", which is pretty obviously not what you're referring to.

Hubble Space Telescope was my first thought.

To quote BZArcher, good lord you people never studied. And HERE, too, where the popularity of Doctor Duke is rather notable.

When expanding triletterisms, I guess my brain first reaches for computer-related terms, then taxes, then a very limited list of other things. I didn't think of the Hubble Space Telescope either, which I'm considerably more ashamed about. The only people I would reliably recognize by initials are JFK, GLS, and RMS (the latter two being Guy L. Steele and Richard M. Stallman, both Notable Computer Scientists). And if anyone here used RMS without expanding it, I would still ask if they meant the famous RMS or the local one (Robert M. Schroeck).

That, indeed, was another of my reactions...because, it doesn't REALLY look like Whitey, to me. :)

Aside from the alcohol, drugs, cigarettes, and excess of food, sounds pretty healthy!

I would have to say that, on the one hand, yes, on the other, no, considering that, as far as I can tell, that leaves grapefruit and orange juice...and having ONLY that can't be good for you either.

HST is also not to be confused with HRT, which is something of which I am endeavouring to make the British government allow me to partake. Although frankly, it might carry enough of a buzz to make life a little more interesting for a chemical connoisseur...
