You know how Doctor Who et al. do those little short films for the BBC's charity telethons (Red Nose Day, Children in Need, and so forth)? Well, Avalon 17 does that too. We originally wrote this as the opening sequence for OWaW #14, and then realized, "Hey, this is like one of those charity mini-episodes. ... Yeah, why not." So, enjoy. :)

AHAHA!

Oh wow, that was fantastic. The power race with the Fastest Belv in the World was just plain excellent, and the Stig popping up for a delivery even better. He didn't fire off the OSCILLATION OVERTHRUSTER I see; is the method of his transit to do with that particular car? Or just because, well...the Stig.

And I noticed that UF-Gryph has finally taken it upon himself to at least attempt to learn some French (Gallian? Gallic?..whichever), though it's good to see his accent is still atrocious. I half wonder if he's doing it on purpose :)

Also, I was right when I said it before; no matter how much I love the cast as whole, Shirley is still my favorite.

The flaming tire tracks are the signature of a time vehicle equipped with a Brown Industries flux capacitor system; presumably the Eliminator has a more sophisticated installation than the original DeLorean testbed, since there are no wires and weird-science fins sticking out to mess up the lines. Or maybe it's installed in the Stig. Either way, it's clearly been recalibrated to fire at a higher speed than 88 miles per hour. :)

Ah yes, like the Wolfenstein reference, it's been...rather a while. Not surprised I didn't twinge to the dodge :)

Though, that being the case, I'm inclined to think the capacitor is installed in the Stig, no the car. He can fire then it off at any speed he wants.

What a wonderful surprise to encounter on a rather horrid thursday! What's the back story on The Eliminator?

Edit: Nevermind, that's addressed quite well in the annotations!

Random thought upon reading the last paragraph. What would you even get from a combination of Shirley and the Stig, the Flash?

The Stig... has no understanding of or interest in such matters.

Fortunately.

Which for some reason gave me a mental image of a Stigfamily, with The Stig performing a helmet-palm maneuver in disappointment as Stig Jr. pulls up in.. his boring but practical economy car. Mrs. Stig is in the background with a tray of brake calipers fresh out of the oven.

Now I think of it, there was an episode in which they did a test at the Ascari racetrack resort in Spain, and the scene introducing the Stig shows him in a pool lounger while a girl in a bikini and a Stig helmet swims laps...

Still, I think in this case Shirley was just asking as a matter of form. She has, after all, just completed a petrolhead mating ritual in that scene, whether she's consciously aware of it or not, so it's kind of already on her mind. :)
