Fly Girls fanart.

FiMFiction.net: we might accept blatant porn involving the cast of My Little Pony but as God is my witness we have standards.

Or possibly a Fly Girls cigarette card, they did a few of those in the Crown Colonies...

It's not dead, it's just sleepy.

She looks like a WWI model, maybe a Nieuport 17 or Sopwith Pup.

Pining for the Flyords? =]

But yeah, total agreement there. She looks too svelte for a bomber and, well, really, really pretty. I'd like to put my vote in for the Sopwith Triplane, and for her to be Canadian - the all-Canadian Black Flight of the RNAS were masters of the art, shooting down 86 elite pilots of Jagdgeschwader 1 for a loss of... three. And two of them were to AA fire. And they all worked in the Sopwith Triplane. Additionally, the colour scheme fits - the planes in Black Flight were painted black, but they ended up looking kinda brown.

Ya gotta have a gimmick, after all.

Fly Girls was one of the most delightful things to come out of 2014, and it has some stiff competition because 2014 was a huge year for EPU.

An amazing cosplay of Lysander by, er, not sure. I think she's actually a film actress. IDK.

For the sake of my sanity, PLEASE tell me that was facetious? It's been rather...unclear in all sorts of places elsewhere, lately, so...

When we were toying around with the idea back many moons ago, I tried to picture how this all might work since we were slowly moving away from "Girls und Panzer with planes" and into "Anthropomorphized classic fighter planes." And it seems an artist came up with it, just two years later:

Didn't we go the other way? I'm sure that at one point, Merc was picturing Kancolle-style flying girls, while I had more of an Arpeggio-style "girl with some personal traits reminiscent of airplane flying airplane" thing going on.

Either way, this is pretty adorable.

I think we all ended up going to all corners of the map, as I have to admit at the time I was a Strike Witches fan and drew on that more than anything else. All these years later I can admit that when I came up with the description for Hien, the mental image I had was of Lucchini due to the Hien's reporting name of "Tony" as they initially thought she was an Italian fighter, while her German accent came from the fact that she was one of the handful of Japanese designs that used the license-built version of the DB-601.

Yeah, this came up when you pre-read my Night Witche treatment, which had a few scenes in there which explicitly assumed flying girls, as in, Stuka doing things like physically flying through the air and ripping the tops off of buildings so she could laugh at people as she hurled her bombs at them with her own two hands.

And you were like "oh, no, the girls are actually FLYING the planes" and I was like "fair enough, I'll re-jigger things."

I concur.

The 'straddle the plane like a motorcycle' works really well.

Nice find!
