... Who, oddly enough, just finished being on another show with David Tennant. It's a pretty compact little universe over in British TV, isn't it?

Also with Arthur Darvil (Rory) if I remember the BBC News report properly.

Drat, still not ginger. Better luck next time...

Interesting. According to U-toob, "That video does not exist. Sorry about that."

I particularly like the apology.

Weapons were removed from standard survival blueprints following the massacre on Obraxis Prime. As an essential survival tool for 2.5 million years, the knife remains the only exception. Sorry about that.

Hey, congrats to her! I'm not familiar with her work, but from what I hear she should do the identity proud.

I will personally laugh my metaphorical head off if, in her traditional post-regen face & body check, she says anything remotely resembling "Oh look, Dalek bumps" or "I've got etheric beam locators!"

Unlike a lot of man-children on the net (thankfully none here), I have absolutely no problem with a female Doctor.

What I have a problem with...is she's still not a ginger.

Maybe after she's been singed a couple or three times by the Pesky Critter Of The Week. ;)

As an old-time Doctor Who fan (Longer than some of you have been alive), I will wait and see before judging one way or another. I don't want this to be a publicity stunt, but I will admit the fear is in the back of my mind. We shall see.

Of course it's a publicity stunt. Replacing the Doctor has always been a publicity stunt, and particularly in the "new era", where it's done on a set timetable. It's just like 1950s/'60s carmakers and their facelift-every-year, new-models-every-three strategy. One hundred percent marketing.

Thus, the question in this particular instance, I would submit, is not whether it's a publicity stunt, but whether they—if you will pardon the expression—balls it up.
