After reading this line, right at the end:
<Quote>
"This," he remarked after taking a sip, "is the bloody life."
"Mm," Asuka replied, a trifle sleepily. "Though you know we'd go crazy from boredom in a week or so."
</Quote>

Misato has precious little to say regarding DJ's access to EVA-01'.

Of course, DJ probably wouldn't use it to do anything beyond getting someplace, if that. Since 1) EVA's don't fit into your standard ancient temple, unless you happen to be raiding Ry'leh. and 2) Even if you could use it obtain ancient treasures and whatnot, where's the fun innit? 3) ancient places are artifacts in their own right, you don't just go around poking holes in em. Even if half of em do seem to tend to implode when you get the big Artifact (tm).

"Have Eva's, will travel" eh?

Ideas spring to mind.

Great evils that require great forces of good will pop up in one of two amounts of time on any given scale (actual, geological, celestial, etc). 1) Nearly immediatly afterwards, or 2) great long period of time. It's happened in the real world. Look at all the crap that happened *after* WWII. It's Ying and Yang, there must and always will be an opposing force.

Okay, sorry about putting you guys through that bit. To the point now...

I can imagine any number of great evils popping up in the wake of all this. Maybe some religous fanatics get ahold of their own plans for Evas? Or hell, wait a good long while. Some great evil of one form or another will arise, and the descendants of the Children of Project Evangelion will rise to the challenge.

Who knows. All I know is that it's all up to Gryphon and the gang to decide on. And if you ask me, I think it'll be a while until we see something of this sort.

If you're looking for immediate gratification along these lines, John Biles has a well-written NGE/Cthullu cross-over ongoing series (http://www.thekeep.org/~rpm/eva/coaeg.html). I've had much enjoyment comparing the divergence in story between EPU's Evangalion universe to Biles. Beware however that the NGE/Cthullu take is (unsurprisingly) much darker in tone than NXE.

Brian

While Eris is competent, for real Chaos seek Arioch.

Blood and Souls!!

Definitely darker. But definitely interesting.

And, just to keep things completely and utterly weird, Dan Gibson has gone ahead with a little bundle of joy called Sic Semper Morituri, which takes some of John's ideas and runs wild with them, adding some characters to the cast, and setting the whole thing in 1947 Occupied Japan.

,

While I have yet to read the former (though I intend to, don't worry), I have been enthusiastically following the latter, and I recommend it highly.
