#0, A question of survivability...

How did UF's Gryphon and Megazone survive the centuries before the Exile?

They were romantically involved with the Dir...um, the Lovely Angels. Is the "collateral damage" problem something that only comes up when they are on WWWA missions, or is Omega-2 that effective, or what?

I think it is that effective. But don't tell THEM I told you that.
I think I'm better going to hide in my bombshelter now. With a machinegun or two. And I have to get this heavy bodyarmor. And I mustn't forget this mobile shieldgenerator.

Clean living, lots of vitamin C, and a complete abstention from aspirin.

It's mostly just bad press. Plus, we almost never went with them on their 3WA assignments, being busy running the WDF. (Amusingly, the only documented time either of us ever did, in Passion, the one who was dumb enough to do it, me, came within script immunity of getting cacked. :)

Yeah, but if if I remember correctly, that wasn't their fault either. So, again, it's always some wacko's fault the Angels get bad press/"kill people." Had Carson not been there, you'd have gotten home just fine. Although, I suppose, for the sake of future storylines, it's a good thing he was there.

I drink copious amounts of Earl Grey (one every one and a half hours at the hostel) and I've seen what it leaves in the mug. It mentions in one of your fic's, Gryphon, that you drink Earl Grey. I wonder what 300+ years of it would do to you?

(I need a different addiction.... naah.)

Well, I used to. Nowadays I'm trying to stay away from caffeine and its cousins (tea actually has theophylline, but that whole family of stimulants has more or less the same effects), so I'm mostly drinking those new diet sodas that don't have any aspartame.

Diet sodas without aspartame?!?! Aieeeeeeeee

They're not too bad, actually. The new formulation of Diet Rite cola and Adirondack's Waist Watchers brand both use a combination of sucralose and acesulfame potassium; they don't taste horrible, only slightly odd, and sufficiently chilled are actually palatable. And they don't have all the unfortunate side effects that aspartame-sweetened drinks have for me.

Diet RC contains only sucralose, and tastes remarkably, even startlingly, like a real soda, but, unfortunately, it's caffeinated, and it was actually the caffeine I started drinking diet soda to avoid, not the sugar. (I suppose I could just drink caffeine-free sugared sodas, like Sprite and non-Barq's root beer, and sometimes I do, but I figured while I was abandoning what I'd really rather be drinking I might as well go all the way and reduce my calorie intake, while I was making the adjustment anyway.)

I have fond memory's of Adirondack brand soda. In general I like it much better than "name brand" sodas. Unfortunately it isn't distributed this far south.

I tried Diet Dr. Pepper not too long ago, and while it does taste somewhat like regular Dr. Pepper, I don't like regular Dr. Pepper so it was kind of a pointless excercise.

I can just imagine this. Five hundred years into the UF universe, and nobody's invented an artificial sweetener that tastes good and doesn't cause cancer.

Ignoring the fact that Omega-2 makes the whole cancer thing moot, of course. :)

Then, of course, if you're a Detian, I guess watching your sugar intake doesn't matter much either, does it. I've looped myself again. Curses.
