I am still playing through the new tutorial they have just released. The parallels to a certain UF story starring B'Elanna are way beyond coincidence.

So the question is, was her story of how she first became a captain based on an existing Star Trek story? I honestly don't know. But my curiosity is bursting now. Qapla!

It was not, although it was slightly informed by the "welp, everybody's dead, guess I'm captain now" aspect of the old STO Klingon tutorial.

If there's an inspiration for anything beyond the basics of the original story when Gryph and I started fleshing it out, it would actually be the way TD02 borrows / steals from several things in Lois Bujold's The Borders of Infinity, but yeah. We basically started from a few different fragments, fleshed out the skeleton, and then went from there.
