Nobody's quite sure if it's an April Fools joke or not. It hasn't been noted as such by Ross yet, so far as I'm aware....and he has said for ages that he's wanted to do it.

As I mentioned on another forum, there's a surprising shout-out to John Christopher's The Tripods. One expects references to Wells, but not to the other.
