I recently saw Thor, and I was really impressed with the depiction of Asgard the movie presented. Is this a good reference for the city in UF?

Dunno! Haven't seen it. Given the review I read that described those bits as "like seeing Hamlet in a planetarium," though, I'm guessing not really. :)

The interiors aren't the best (Odin's throne room reminded me of a set for the Oscars) but the city proper isn't bad. Let me see if I can find a scan.

And I LOVE their take on Bifrost

OK, well, based on that, I would say the answer to the original question is: no.

Bifrost is indeed awesome, but the huge palace just puts me in mind of a pipe organ someone decided to turn into a house. Good film though.

I really hated it until I realised I was unconsciously comparing it to UF Twilight. On its own merits it's pretty OK, but I could have done with more Thor and his magic buddies being super best friends and killing things to death.

While we're on the subject, an odd thought occurred to me the other day while listening to to Manowar - Gods of War album. I wonder if the concept of crossing the rainbow bridge Bifrost to reach the golden city had anything to do with the myth of the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow.
