That I deeply appreciate that nobody in the UF universe holds on to their secret identities for long, and, more importantly, if they do have a secret identity, does not need to be urged to take on that identity by means of an incredibly lame motivational speech.

And seriously, Wakaba is way cooler than Hal Jordan.

is not going to go see Green Lantern this weekend unless someone on the forum can convince her otherwise.

I would posit that you need to see/read/listen to something in order to form a full opinion on it, but then my thoughts carry no weight and I should probably not be listened to by anyone capable of outwitting glue. Which is everywhere except Stoke.

<grin> I know you're right. But the reviews have been awful and people I trust have seen it and said it wasn't worth the price of admission. I think one review compared it to the 80s movie Supergirl.

I want to be convinced to go; I have yet to be convinced.

Grant from Mythbusters liked it. :)

Apart from that, the review over at CNN's website is entertaining, if only because the reviewer takes the basic position, "It's a movie about a superhero who beats up evil with the power of positive thinking. What were those other reviewers expecting, Schindler's List? Lighten up, Francis."

After reading this article (http://io9.com/5811647/totally-demented-green-lantern-storylines-that-wont-be-in-the-movie) I'm going to see it in the hope that we'll get a sequel with a Nolan-style, gritty, realistic take on Truk.

They're apparently trying it with Superman. I had close to the same thought.

When I consider that it doesn't even really work that well with Batman, I fear for humanity's future.

You won't get that convincing from me.

I found the film depressingly mundane.

The only Green hero that I'm waiting to be in the movies is...

Green Arrow.
And not the Smallville angsty teen version... I'm talking the Oliver Queen from Longbow Hunters to present. The blend of dark, gritty and humor was what makes him... well... great.

Of course, Hollywood would muck it up.
Same with Doctor Strange...
