#0, UF Fanart: Vigil - 144

Hello Eyrie!

Just finished up my woefully neglected project and wanted to share the wallpaper I made out of it. It also gives me a chance to publicly thank Gryphon for taking the time to give his input and critique.

It's pretty big, 1920 x 1080, so it might take a while to load.

While this isn't a part of any story I wanted to do something other than person-on-colored-background. So I tried to go for something that could possibly be a still shot from the Golden Age era.

Man, tough crowd.

I'd just like to note that, though it did not occur to me during the development phase, looking at the finished image I realize that the CG figure looks startlingly like my uncle Paul, say, 30 years ago, when he was in the Navy. Apart from the hair, obviously.

I didn't get booed out of the building and/or doused in pitch and lit on fire so... WIN!

heh. Yeah, in this business the bar can be pretty high. And people tend to comment only if its really good or really bad. and to me it was kinda... meh. I understood it was suppossed to be UF-You from the Golden Age, but somehow the image just didnt 'sell' itself the way some of the other drawn stuff has to me. Maybe its the lack of the beard? When exactly does UF-You make it part of your look?

Gryph was originally supposed to have a beard. But it got left on the cutting room floor due to the combination of each design looking absolutely horrible (like play dough just mushed on his face) and the fact that I'm in the process of transferring and if I didn't wrap this up it would probably have never been done.

It's a good image, but was more interested in q's hilarious message (if anyone hasn't read it, go enlarge the image until you can).

"They planned their campaigns just as you might make a splendid piece of harness. It looks very well; and answers very well; until it gets broken; and then you are done for. Now I made my campaigns of ropes. If anything went wrong, I tied a knot; and went on."
-- Arthur Wellesley, First Duke of Wellington
