A modified version of Samus Aran's 'symbol' we see all the time in Metroid?

And that 'Mr & Mrs Pacman' line needs to find its way into a storyline. Its begging to be used.

Hmm. It's reminiscent of a couple symbols I could name off the top of my head. Intriguing. I look forward to seeing what's done with it. And I can't help but think I've seen it before...

It's vaguely reminiscent of Harry Potter's scar. I would, however, say that it's just as close to Tim Hunter's scar. (Which is a whole big can of worms)

That's one seriously geometrically precise scar.

Neither of them have the circle, other then that, yeah, they're both drawn as almost perfect lightning bolts.

Frankly my first though upon seeing it was that it resembled The Flash's 'lightning bolt on white circle' insignia.

I think that might be it. But... somehow, I doubt that'll be it.

It also looks like the Norse rune for the letter S.

It's probably no surprise that my first thought was "futuristic yin-yang symbol".

Although my second thought was "UF version of the Lightning League" :)

That was my thought, too. Specifically, it looks like the rune "Sowilo" or "Sigel" (which OMG fans will recognize.)

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sowilo_rune

One site that gives the mystic definition of the rune says it "is a strong symbol, for it represents the sun. Unlike equatorial cultures that may see the sun as a harsh and imperial force capable of causing droughts, in the cold north the sun is a purely feminine force that gives life and allows crops to grow. In dark times, this rune represents clarity of sight and the victory of good over evil. Sowilu is irreversible, as the cycles of the sun and seasons are perpetual."

That pretty much sums up Utena.

Mr. and Mrs. Pacman caught in a moment of passion?

Seriously though, this is driving me nuts. I feel like I definitly have seen that before, but its a question of WHERE...
And of course when it gets revieled as to what it was I'm going to be smacking myself for not realizing it

Not stenciled; Bell freehanded it. She can do that kind of thing, 'cause she's Bell.

It's sorta-semi-permanent; it's not a tattoo, and it isn't an actual System Mark, but it also isn't going to just come off by itself.

You forgot 'Badass Beauty'.

Now that Clarion Call is out I'm wondering about the significance of this even more. Possible ideas:

1. A Wedding rune.
2. Symbol of Utena Tenjou, Goddess of Beautiful Badassness, Epic Victories, and All around Awesomeness
3. Rune for Corwin/Anthy's child.
4. Odin's Wife's blessing rune for both Corwin & Utena (loved her speech)
5. Corwin's Rune (once he finally displays his) - as it looks somewhat like a symbol from circuitry, and would be rather fitting considering his 'realm'.

While clearly it was intended as number one, points 2 through 4 are also valid, though not as valid as point 1....

Unlikely.
Putting his personal mark on her *forehead* would kind of refute the whole bit about not treating their wives as chattel, don't you think?

It wouldn't be so much as treating Utena as 'chattel', as honoring her by she being worthy of bearing the mark of a god. They did specifically state she was all but becoming an 'adopted' Aesir (if more like dragged into becoming one). And since Gryphon used the AMG/OMG as one of the elements to make up the Asgardians, there's already a semi-precedence seen in the anime where a god/goddess' mark can be altered.
