Yes, the Untitled Commander Shepard Project is untitled no longer. Several titles were considered, but the first one we thought of ended up being the best of the lot.

Summer, 2406. The Earth Alliance has cracked down on internal dissent, closed its borders, and severed relations with the International Police Organization.

Behind the wall of this brand new cold war, something sinister is stirring. Fragmentary reports find their way to the IPO, whispering of unexplained mass disappearances, fruitless Earthforce investigations, and a coverup on the fringes of EA space. Unable to intervene directly without sparking an interstellar war, Chief Gryphon of the IPO needs a deniable asset. Someone with the tools and the talent to do a hard and complicated job behind enemy lines, the discretion to do it without starting a war, and the determination to see it through to the end, no matter how tough the going gets.

Someone like Virginia Shepard.

Back from the dead and ready for action, she's perfect for the job: unknown to Earthdome, unaffiliated with the IPO, and unafraid to get her hands dirty. But for a mission as tough as this, she'll need an army... or a really good team.

She'll need

That release date in the promo doesn't mean "it'll be coming out in spring or summer of 2013, we dunno," it means it'll be coming out in spring and summer of 2013, in several acts - the first of which will be along within the next couple-three days, depending on how the work I have to get done for this weekend goes.

I wonder how big an EMP you can get--and how big the associated power blip would be--with a fusion-powered 'pinch'?

Induce a solar coronal mass ejection correctly, you can black out a whole planet!*

Happycat is happy!

I think it's a good title. Has the feel of putting the band back together and pulling off a caper at the same time.

Sadly, however, I have to inform you now that it will not include an elcor acrobat clambering out of a box and saying, "Peeved inquiry: Where the fuck have you been?"

Amusing trivia--when I watched Ocean's 13, the theatre I was watching it in was located in Valencia, CA.

Needless to say, the opening scene got a pretty good laugh.

I suppose we'll have to wait to see if Garrus Vakarian is eating in every scene he's in.

And indeed Act I is up. FTR, I know it's not in the UF chron listing yet. I'm running late right now and don't have time to put it in.

Enjoy,

One of the things I've always enjoyed about reading the work here is that I consistently read the dialog in the characters' 'voice' (assuming there is an actual voice to match up).

The dialog and the inter-personal interactions always feel spot on.

This serial is going to be an enjoyable read. Especially now that I've gone back and read Project Archangel, Correspondence, Holiday in the Sun and Star-Crossed. I'd avoided them in the past lacking the appropriate background. Having finished ME 1&2, these stories make much more sense to me.

Not to mention the Cybertron saga. The geth (who they are) and why they'd worship Unicron mesh so well I want to play that game.

This was just awesome! A really great start to what promises to be a fun ride.

I'm just wish I could go back in time and give the me of last week a copy of the audio before I had to take a four hour plane ride.

Speaking of the audio, I've just discovered that something went pretty badly wrong with the rec level. Examination of settings indicates that the mic level somehow got turned all the way up. (Probably the mic got plugged into a different USB port when the system was taken down for repairs a bit back; USB is slightly stupid and doesn't realize that the new device that just appeared on port 3 which is exactly the same as the one that used to be on port 2 is in fact the same thing and should have the same settings applied.)

Anyway, it's caused some pretty hideous noise, compounded by a mistake I made doing the mp3 encoding. I could fix the latter but not the former, which is present in the original raw wav files, which means I'll have to re-record sometime this week. What I get for not listening back before upping, I suppose.
