#0, Completed the Chrono Listing of UF

Well, except for Desolation Angel, I just finished all of the UF in chronological order.

I must say, the evolution of style and story is very impressive. So first up, THANK YOU to all of EPU's writing teams past and current.

Secondly, I NEED MORE!!!!
Especially looking forward to finding out about Kei and more Darth Vader and Rei!

One of the coolest things for me, what overall how well everything fit together, even items written years later, but took place in an earlier time period.
That level of attention to detail is where EPU excels compared to most book or visual media series.

There are so many threads and stories arcs that are out there. I can't even remember them all. It reminds me of A song of Ice and Fire by G.R.R.M.
And this is definitely meant as a compliment!

It also reminded me why I love this site.

So thank you very much and I am looking forward to the next piece.

Stay safe!

Ye gods, that was an ambitious project. I doubt I'd have the stamina for it myself. Not that I would dare anyway - I know what's waiting behind some of those early links. On the other hand, you got all the way to the end and you're still speaking to us, so you can't be that badly scarred. :)

But hey! Glad you survived, thanks for the kind words; now get some rest. :) This summer's probably not going to be as big as last summer, but still, there's some stuff in the works.

Some people are insane like that. Last time I did a full archive dive (not quite chronological order--did it in order of Core, Golden Age, Exile, Future Imperfect with everything in those categories at the time) took me about four months, give or take.

But then, I am completely insane and read rather faster than most people.

By the bye, UF is one of the few things that I can stand to reread with less than a five-year interval between readings.

That's how I did it both times. The second time, I managed three months. (I was unemployed at the time, and needed some way to alleviate the boredom.)

Thanks! And no, not that scarred. True it was rough going early on :)

Looking forward to the new stuff! Almost done with Desolation Angel and looking for to S5 - Familiar spirits!

Curiously enough, Peggy was cleaning out the front closet of our house this weekend and came across a box holding two huge binders filled with printouts of what appears to be all of UF circa 2002 or so. Digging through the misty recesses of my memory, I find I have a vague recollection that Offsides may have assembled them for me, though I cannot imagine what motivated him to do so. In any case, seeing it all there like that, in two monumental chunks, I found myself seriously tempted to make the effort to read it all in order, too...

It's in the middle of my kindle to read list; although at current rate it'll be over 6 months before I start.

I don't think I assembled them for you per se, I seem to recall printing them out summer of '04 during my first coop job, and I later passed them on to you at some point. I had forgotten about them, so I'm glad to hear I didn't just trash them...

Wow. I remember doing this back in, what was it, '94 or so, since I still had access to the free laser printing at school, and it was already about six-eight inches thick by then....

Not the only one -- I printed out my copies (and still have them!) from '93-on, up until little after graduating and entering the workforce. I remember Zoner being quite flabbergasted when I dropped the 4+ inches worth of double-column pages in front of him at the fanfic panel that one Katsucon... ahhh, good times.

(I'm pretty sure I have a photograph of that moment, but it's A) buried in my photo boxes, which are NOT organized in a meaningful way, and B) the photos were taking with my 110 cartridge Instamatic camera, which did NOT have good light level capture. ^_^; Eh, someday I'll get them sorted...)

LOL,
Well I remember first learning of and reading UF from Floppy on my old MAC LC40.
And said disks were given to me by Offsides during the epic Robotech/Star Wars New Years weekend!
God, how I wish I could still do that!

You and me both, my friend. Perhaps when my kids are old enough we can relive those days with them, at least until they put us to bed :)

I shall await that day! Armed with my DVDs and HOPEFULLY a Disney release of the Original Original Star Wars Trilogy.

You know, while we're more or less on the topic here, does anyone have a ballpark figure for the current size of UF? The last figure I can find -- "roughly 20 MB" -- is from 2008, and UF's certainly a bit larger by now.

I have a tendency to grab fic files to read off-line, and the folder I have for UF is now up to about 23 MB. I may not have everything, though; like the mini-stories and Babylon project write-ups and whatnot.

Going by my calculations, the current body of UF work comes to 27.4 MB. This includes compiled Omnibuses, but does not include currently independent Featured Documents or Mini-Stories. The sum total of Eyrie Productions work comes to 32.3 MB (minus .45 Caliber Angel, since I don't have release dates for those pieces).

(yes, I'm keeping track of this).
