#0, Gryphon mission patch
Posted by Vorticity on Jan-11-17 at 03:38 AM

When did Gryph get the title "divine guardian"? And what secret plan did he have in Algeiba (the yellow star)?

The original source was here, and but the original original source is the patch for the NROL-27 mission from the National Reconnaissance Office.

'Prevail' is a synonym for 'win'...

I do seem to recall a music cue of some sort near the end of the Core that made reference to Ms West (drunk or otherwise)

The same phrase appears in the chorus of the WDF's official song, which is set to the same tune as "The U.S. Air Force":

From the Core to the Rim,
We are there—we will win:
Nothing can stop the Wedge Defense Force!

This has been mentioned a couple of times in stories, the most prominent I can recall being when Wolfgang von Fahrvergnügen quotes it in the later part of The Sterling Saga.

I would say probably sometime in September 2390, but that's just a guess.

>When did Gryph get the title "divine guardian"?

Trivia: It's actually based on an alternate kenning of custos; a more accurate translation would be "Heaven's Janitor".

I think my favorite part about this patch is how tentacularly unsubtle it is. The only places the Giant Space Octopus's tentacle is specifically touching on the map are Russia, China, Afghanistan, Iran, and Pakistan. Poor suckers. Japan, inkcredibly, remains tentacle free.

N.B. I may have been watching Ika Musume squiddy recently.

Release the Kracken!

Michael C. Fortner
"Maxim 37: There is no such thing as "overkill".
There is only "open fire" and "I need to reload".
