This immediately reminded me of a certain scene in the first Symphony.

Most of it I can understand, but... *butter*?

OK, I'm mildly surprised. That's pretty odd, even to me, who has eaten fried ice cream (its pretty good, IIRC, but they have to make it very cold, before they fry it).

“They planned their campaigns just as you might make a splendid piece of harness. It looks very well; and answers very well; until it gets broken; and then you are done for. Now I made my campaigns of ropes. If anything went wrong, I tied a knot; and went on.”

The last few years, deep-fried Oreos have become a favorite at the Jersey shore in summer.

I've had them... they're batter-dipped and come out basically like milk-soaked oreos surrounded by funnel cake. Not bad, tastewise, actually, but probably hell on the fats and calories.

The Scots have been doing this sort of thing with Mars bars for years. That said, they've done it with every other foodstuff imaginable as well. Scotland is a country that would cheerfully cook and consume deep-fried lard...

I've had deep-fried Oreos before. They are delicious, as well as utterly artery-clogging. It was worth it.

I had some absolutely brilliant fried leeks today. You just clean the leek, toss it in the deep fryer until the greens get crispy, then pull it out and put some salt on it.

It's probably one more reason why I'm going to have a massive coronary, but it was incredibly tasty.
