#0, I was re-reading Ash Knight...

...and I found something that confused me:

"Oh." They walked in silence for a few minutes; then, while
they waited on the subway platform for the train to arrive, Anne
asked, "So - when are you moving to Tomodachi, anyway?"
Corwin grinned. "Soon as you and Kate get the rest of your
books out of my room," he said.
Anne laughed. "I'll hold you to that, you know."
"Fine by me," Corwin said. His grin softened into a warmer
sort of smile, and he added in a slightly wry voice, "If I'd known
this would happen, though, I wouldn't have signed a two-year lease on
an apartment in Nekomikoka." Then he laughed. "What the hell, it's
only gold."
"OK," said Anne, smiling. "When I get back, we'll get it done
for you."

Shouldn't this be 'when are you moving to New Avalon' ? (Considerig that he's living in Nekomikoka...)

There's nothing in Ash Knight that indicates that Corwin is already living in Nekomikoka. As things are resolved Interlude 2 he's certainly going to be moving in with Utena and Anthy but at that point he's still getting his life back together after the time in Asgard. If anything, he probably went back to his New Avalon apartment in the meantime while preparations for his move (and the wedding, and Anthy's baby) were underway. Even with the resolutions reached in Interlude 2, Corwin seems to be taking his time in the move to do things right.

He hadn't actually moved to Nekomikoka yet at that point (he was, in fact, spending most of his time in his little bachelor pad in Asgard, sorting things out for his next move), but I can see where a lot of the living arrangements in the S4/S5 transition period would get confusing. Hell, they're a little confusing to the people involved in them. I'm not sure Miki actually knows where he lives right now. He's probably having his mail sent to some Mail Boxes Ad Nauseam address in New Avalon somewhere. :)

But aren't Kate and Juniper living in New Avalon (based on the beginning of the piece)?

Yes, and?

Oh, I see. No, see, the thing is, Corwin's supposed to be moving into Juni's old room in the house on Tomodachi? And since she and Kate moved to New Avalon, it's been all full of books they haven't gotten around to moving yet. So he needs them to get the books out of the room before he can move into it.

Ok, that makes sense. So how is Juni gonna drag Miaka and Yui over to Tomodachi to help pack up books? (re: the scene at the end)

You're really being a pain in my ass about this, you know that? Especially considering it's of, like, quaternary importance to that particular story.

Besides, there are a dozen commuter flights from New Avalon International to Nekomikoka International every day. It's dead cheap.

I was just curious, is all.

Oh, and sorry about the quote thing -- I hang out at the neo-geo.com forums far too much for my own good (which is, in fact, UBB as you've said.)

There is curiosity, and then there is asking to be spoon-fed insignificant details. If it were an interesting part of the story (how the girls got to Tomodachi and back) then we'd stick it in; if it doesn't really further anything, then we try to leave it out - there's lots and lots of UF characters, and if we covered every detail of every one of their lives, there'd be a whole lot of really, really boring text to sift through to get the little nuggets that Gryph puts up for the world to see.

(I mean, how much do you really want to read, "OK, I've got another stack of scores, which open box is Kaitlyn's?" "That one - the one with 'Classicists of the 20th century' next to it." "'k.")

Besides, Miaka and Yui can't go to Tomodachi - it's tech week, as you may have noticed them mentioning, and the Director would probably blow his stack if they blew off rehearsal like that. Courtney and Katherine will probably help Juni do most of the packing.

I blame George Lucas for causing people to think that the details of lengthy interstellar travel are at all interesting or relevant to plot. ;)
