Fig. 1 German beetle emerging from its winter cocoon.

The miracle of nature.

Iiffffffthat's the amount of snow you've gotten, then that isn't a cocoon...exactly what it IS, I couldn't say, but a cocoon it ain't.

And, miracle looks about right!

Sweet mother...I mean, sure, we've gotten snow like that...but, this is SWEDEN. We're SUPPOSED to...comes plainly stated in the contract, along with the polar bears and the free sex and what have you....the questions about watches and chocolate and shit. Which, yes, we do get.

Maine is similar to Sweden in many respects, although one of Governor LePage's least popular actions in office so far (and there have been many contenders for that dubious honor) was to end the free sex program for budgetary reasons, and our repeated questions from randos are on different subjects.

Given what I've heard of The Wrongly Honored Fuckstick, this does not surprise me.

Might I be so bold as to ask what those subjects might be?

Moose and lobsters, primarily. And whether Stephen King is at home. (And why we elected the Danny DeVito version of the Penguin as governor. Twice.)

Brush-with-celebrity story: King lives in Bangor, which has been the nearest place to get basically anything for most of my life. I've run across him in the wild a couple of times, once in line for popcorn at a movie theater when I was a kid, and once just a few years ago at what was then the Borders bookstore in town. On the latter occasion, I was going in as he was coming out, and we passed each other in the airlock. He had set off the inventory control alarm on his way out, and as he went by me he was audibly muttering (presumably to it, not me), "Yeah, screw you." :)

Heh, both times I worked at a business in that general area I had a brief encounter with him in my capacity as an employee - first at the Staples, where I ended up helping him find a package of mac-format zip disks ; the other, issuing his theatre companion a headset for a viewing of Master and Commander at the Bangor Mall Cinema.

Hilariously, I saw him exiting the theatre and heading to the restroom, in possession of said assisted-audio headset, presumably so as not to miss the plot.

Can't recall seeing him anywhere else in town except at the mall, so I guess he's kind of a mall rat ;-)
