So... funny story. Remember Our Fighting Fleet, the "serial experiment experiment" that launched back in the summer and then didn't really seem to go anywhere? Well, I've been just as puzzled as you probably haven't about why that was the case, but as we finished up OWaW #19 I realized what it is: that scene that dropped as the "opening hook" for Our Fighting Fleet was actually the first bit of the next episode.

(... or the one after it.)

So that's... interesting.

I'm probably not going to move it until the rest of the episode is written and attached to it, but there you go. Sometimes I'm not 100% sure of what I'm doing even while I'm doing it. :)

Your muse has always had a mind of her own. And that's a good thing. =)

That happens to me all the time.

Probably not in the you mean, though.

There's a published author who has reported discovering foreshadowing in her books for events she hadn't consciously plotted when she wrote the parts with the foreshadowing.

You're in good company.

I just had one of those moments with the latest bit I wrote in my current story project. It's not in the outline, it doesn't yet contribute to the plot, but something in the back of my head says, "this needs writing and including."

I've learned not to ignore that something.

I had something similar happen lately - I had a whole scene in my head and was just starting to put it down on paper when one of the other characters walked up, tapped me on the shoulder, and said, "I got this."

It completely changed how things were accomplished, but I think it worked out better than the original plan (which I was able to partially salvage into a different scene later on - bonus! :)).

And I learned that from both you and Gryphon, between discussions on the forums here and prereading for DW, so thanks to both of you!

Well, this is just proof that these characters are alive :)

And for me, this organic way of moving through your stories is what makes them a compelling read.

;) But I still want to know what happened to Kei! ;)

I was late to the OWaW party, but I've read it several times now. After the first time, however, I always read "Our Fighting Fleet" after "Back at the Ranch," because it seemed to flow better that way.

I'm very happy to hear that OWaW will continue and hopefully soon. I've become quite fascinated with the world, even if the anime is a little cringe-worthy at times ("Nice and Breezy" and "It's All Creepy-Crawly," I'm looking at you.)

Some wires in my brain must have gotten crossed from this, because I keep thinking of running an RPG session where the Strike Witches go up against the Fleet of Fog. Maybe I just want Kirishima/Yotaro to meet Lucchini.
