#0, The Sea Hates a Coward

LAST EDITED ON Aug-27-17 AT 00:11 AM (EDT) Not many people beyond her immediate wingmates, and a few of her former classmates from her time back at the Fusō Imperial Naval Academy on Etajima, know that Shizuka Hattori has a tattoo. Illustration by Phil Moy, sourced by Doc at Wizard World Chicago this weekend
She got it during a port call in Inchōn, on the Koryō peninsula (which has been a province of the Fusō Empire since the First Neuroi War; it has been a much less messy and generally criminal enterprise than the real-life equivalent), during her freshman-year cruise aboard the training cruiser Katori, before she started aviation school. Despite the fact that she's a bit embarrassed by it, most of the people who've seen it think it's rather nice. --G. IRL, it's the package illustration from a Korean brand of cigarettes called, I kid you not, THIS PLUS. -><- Benjamin D. Ohhhh, damn, I love this pic. What exactly is she welding, I wonder, knowing she's not an engineer? Is this an upcoming scene, I wonder? Between the tattoo and the request Gryphon received recently, perhaps it's time for a return to this universe. ------ Fearless creatures, we all learn to fight the Reaper Can't defeat Her, so instead I'll have to be Her

>Ohhhh, damn, I love this pic. What exactly is she welding, I wonder, >knowing she's not an engineer? > Well, I seem to recall a teaser that indicated that UF-G got called in on a case that seemed to be the first ship girl appearing in the SW universe while the others were in new berline for Fritzchin's wedding...

I didn't think they still had the two halves of the Mogami. =) But hey, if they do, awesome! ------ Fearless creatures, we all learn to fight the Reaper Can't defeat Her, so instead I'll have to be Her

As many others have said, this pic is amazing — to my eyes it looks like Priss from the original Bubblegum Crisis. (It's definitely rocking' Kenichi Sonoda's style, that's for sure!) -------------- Lime2K The One True Evil Overlord

LAST EDITED ON Sep-08-22 AT 01:29 AM (EDT) I just looked this one up again, and it occurred to me that although I showed exactly this scene in Sea Trials, the text doesn't mention her tattoo anywhere. Bad show! Also, I found a higher-res image of the source picture for said tattoo, which is still the greatest piece of branding I think I've ever seen. --G. -><- Benjamin D.
