... I just wanted to tell you all how much fun I'm having working on the Fourth Movement tonight, and maybe tease you a little like the big bastard I am:

"Well, Dorothy? What do you think?" asked Corwin, looking
around.
"I won't need the bed," said Dorothy.
"You should keep it anyway," Corwin advised her. "They're
handy to have around sometimes."
Dorothy looked the institution-issue wood-framed rack over
from one end to the other, turned to him, and deadpanned, "I doubt it
would support me, let alone me and someone else."
Corwin went bright red. (Behind him, so did Miki, who then
timed something.) "That's -not- what I meant," he replied. "Where'd
you get an idea like that?"
"Usenet," said Dorothy.
"Stop reading alt groups," said Corwin, annoyed.

Snort. Snort, I say.

You probably have her replying that she's not been reading the alt. hierarchy, but some of the soc. groups...

As always, looking forward to this, Gryphon...

Ah. She found alt.sex.robots, then. I was sort of wondering about that. (Thankfully, she's more open emotionally than, say, a Stepford Wife.)

I have this sudden image of Kate, Utena, Dorothy and Azalynn walking down a street in Worcester together, in a rank, just like on the beginning of 'Sex and the City'.

In the background, there's the sound of cars and other vehicles dying painful deaths as some people stop to stare and others, well, DON'T.

I haven't seen it, which means that your description gives me this kind of Laverne & Shirley-ish image instead.

Or all of the AoN (and Miki and Dorothy...hell, throw in Corwin, Nall, Tiny Robo and Lesser Mazinger too) dressed in black suits and sunglasses, a la the opening of Reservoir Dogs. Can't you just see Tiny Robo and Lesser Mazinger in little black suits and shades? Or is that just me then? :)

Actually the idea of Nall in a similar suit is funny too...

Heh... See? I'm not the only one, Pangaro. :p

And I agree that it would be great for Dorothy to reply that she'd heard about it someplace OTHER than the alt. groups.

When she said Usenet I was already convulsing on yhe floor so I would have missed any further jokes anyway. But sure I can already see her saying "I havent been reading the alt. hierarchy I found that on the soc. groups, and besides, I am fully functional for a reason."

Pangaro, Did I mention I have a VERY sick mind??

you know-

this does bring up an interesting, legitimate question, and an interesting non-legitimate question.

1) What's dorothy's statistics? (bust waist hips, weight, height, alloys used in construction, lifting capacity). Answer to this question would be wonderful in the form of a character profile, especially for Pangaro, who appears to have fallen in love.

2) Is dorothy fully functional? (I believe the answer is actually in there, but considering someone using a full sentience as a pleasure-slave makes my ears fold back, and I'm human)

3) would you prefer jam or marmalade with your toast? both have their benefits, and we have a rather excellent marmalade, and the jam is quite good as well.

hmm... I don't actually know. From context in the course of Big O, it can be gathered that she weighs around 4-500 pounds; she's heavy enough that a big, strapping lad like Roger Smith has a hard time carrying her, but if he really needs to, he can manage it. (Also, she doesn't destroy furniture, so she must be somewhere in, or not far above, the "heavy human" range.)

The rest of that information, I don't have; it may be out there someplace, but I've never felt all that motivated to go looking for it.

>2) Is dorothy fully functional? (I believe the answer is actually in

It's never addressed in the source material, and has been the subject of considerable debate within Big O fandom. For the UF version, the answer is "yes", although it's worth pointing out that Dorothy herself isn't entirely certain.

Bleh. I keep wanting to like marmalade, but I never do.

I've had marma-peach-al-ade before.. rather good.
most marmalades somehow take the bitter out of the orange peel, which IMHO is a mistake.

thanks for the succint answers, and in my experience with Chicago's IIT dorms...

or would the bed I had 1st year at the University of Hell. Largely because there weren't any legs on the bed, thus resting solidly on the floor.

WPI's might not either, but I'm a bit dubious about those side rails. Besides, she said it at least half just to get the reaction out of Corwin. :)

It's moments like these that I reconsider the idea of posting a comment my ex made about Dorothy and Roger.

I'm not going to say it, though. It just has to do with that full-functionality and Dorothy's precision of movement control.

And how NOT to crush Roger's skull.

I'm sure you can figure the rest out yourself.
