In which USS Iowa (BB-61) reminisces about some of the wild times she witnessed during her unusually long original service career...

Can't keep my hands to myself
Think I'll dust 'em off, put 'em back up on the shelf
Case my little baby girl is in need
Am I coming out of left field?

Oo-ooh, I'm a rebel just for kicks now
I been feeling it since 1966 now
Might be over now, but I feel it still
Oo-ooh, I'm a rebel just for kicks now
Let me kick it like it's 1986 now
Might be over now, but I feel it still

Got another mouth to feed
Leave her with a babysitter, Mama call the gravedigger
Gone with the falling leaves
Am I coming out of left field?

Oo-ooh, I'm a rebel just for kicks now
I been feeling it since 1966 now
Might've had your fill, but you feel it still
Oo-ooh, I'm a rebel just for kicks now
Let me kick it like it's 1986 now
Might be over now, but I feel it still

We could fight a war for peace
(I'm a rebel just for kicks now)
Give in to that easy living, goodbye to my hopes and dreams
Stop flipping for my enemies
We could wave until the walls come down
(I'm a rebel just for kicks now)
It's time to give a little tip
Kids in the middle move over 'til it falls
Don't bother me

Is it coming?
Is it coming?
Is it coming?
Is it coming?
Is it coming?
Is it coming back?

Oo-ooh, I'm a rebel just for kicks
Yeah your love is an abyss for my heart to eclipse now
Might be over now, but I feel it still
Oo-ooh, I'm a rebel just for kicks now
I been feeling it since 1966 now
Might be over now, but I feel it still
Oo-ooh, I'm a rebel just for kicks now
Let me kick it like it's 1986 now
Might be over now, but I feel it still
Might've had your fill, but you feel it still

My favorite fan take on Iowa was the ~5 pages of doujin running with the 'They're normally-raised human girls with ship souls and they literally wear their gear' version of What The Fuck Do We Make Of This Canon...

...Where we find out that she's a former CalTech student who was closely involved in developing the US version of shipgirl 'tech'.

She only sounds like a dunce because she cracked her first book of Japanese study literally on the trip over to report for duty at whichever naval base.

(Also, she looks fantastic in buttoned-up flannel.)

I am intrigued concerning the title of this fanwork.

And because the "cultural expert" she consulted on how best to present herself in Japan is a god damn idiot and/or trolled her hard.

Looking over the comic itself, 'Trolled Hard' is a good summation.
