Since the original version of Jen Rossum is now free to be a hero in her own right, and since they just added a new server anyway, I've repurposed the name "Torch of Victory" for a new character over there who has nothing to do with Jen. (The fire-blasting Jen-based version still exists over on Virtue. Maybe they'll team up in a story sometime.)

Notes: Rachael "Ricki" Tregaskis, better known as the Torch of Victory, used to be Captain Neutrino's flame-throwing sidekick. Stripped of all but a faint echo of her mutant command of flame by an Arachnos experiment, but incredibly stubborn, she found herself only reaffirmed in her heroic vocation by this misfortune. She learned to punch villains instead of throwing fire at them, and discovered to her surprise and delight that, though harder work, this approach is somehow more personally rewarding.

Yes, that means I had her ancillary pool picked out at level 1. She's named, by the way, for the late Richard Tregaskis, an American war correspondent and author whose most famous book is his World War II memoir, Guadalcanal Diary. Tregaskis also wrote a novel based on his WWII experiences, Stronger than Fear, whence comes Torchy's motto.

In another instance of real life copying UF, or at least having similar write staff, the tagline for the most recent of the Skulduggery Pleasant books (fairly good YA fiction, interesting magic system, lotsa gags) is "Kicking evil very hard in the face."

I suspect it probably can, but I suppose it's possible that whoever's responsible for those books is also a Top Gear fan. I got the "punch... in the middle of its face" construction from Clarkson (as "killed to death" comes from May). Indeed, for my purposes "in the middle of its face" is really the critical part of the whole thing. :)

Naturally. If you don't punch them in the middle of the face, they don't stumble backwards properly and fall over the railing/into the live power source/onto the self-destruct mechanism. There really is an art to it.

Reading things in a cursory manner, as it were, can be detrimental to your mental health. As I discovered just now, when I read 'anole' as...well, posterior sphincter, shall we say. Which then turned the REST of that .sig into something VERY disturbing.

If it's brown, buy some more toilet paper.

If it's green, talk to your doctor.

If it's a small Caribbean lizard... I would like rather a lot of what you have been taking, please.
