#0, ...Four styles?
Posted by Peter Eng on Jan-12-11 at 07:24 PM
In Battle 07, Decapre spotted Sakura using elements from four styles. The first two are easy - Shotokan karate and Ler Drit - and I'm presuming that the third is whatever variation of Kung Fu it is that Fei Long uses. Has she picked up something from Cammy, and I just missed that in the fight, or is the fourth style something else?

I wouldn't be surprised at all if she's picked up a few things from Cammy - especially with the reach Sakura has in her legs for kicks and sweeps.

... just as long, Gryphon insists quietly, as Cammy doesn't teach her any throws.

Heh, I actually intended the fourth thing to be Saikyo-ryu karate (yes, Dan's a joke character, but some of his basic maneuvers are pretty decent), but you're right, she's almost certainly absorbed at least a few fundamental movements from watching/sparring with Cammy by now, and Decapre ought to have noticed those particularly, since she's trained (or programmed) in exactly the same style. That was a careless omission on my part.

Right. I remember reading somewhere that she traveled with Dan for a while, so that makes sense.

Maybe she didn't need anything from Cammy's style for that battle. Of course, that leads to the idea of Decapre thinking "...five?!" Then, a few battles later, "Six?!"

Yep, they're old buddies. In several different versions of the "official" story, inasmuch as fighting games have stories, Sakura demonstrates her exceptional kindness and strength of character by knowing full well that Dan sucks, but never feeling obliged to break it to him. :)

Heh, yeah, my version of Sakura has a little bit of that old Marvel Comics villain the Taskmaster about her. She doesn't quite have photographic kinesthesia, but she picks up movements and physical skills very quickly, and often without really trying.
