I made my email address disappear from the footer of all the EPU pages some time ago, when the colossal floods of spam finally drove me to abandon my @eyrie-productions.com/@gweep.net addresses altogether (I was getting about 3000 messages a day exhorting me to try discount Mexican prescription meds and/or increase the volume of my ejaculate by the arrestingly specific figure of 571 percent). However, a couple of recent technical glitches around the Forum, and the oddly circuitous ways people have had to dig up to reach me when they've happened, have impressed upon me that I probably ought to have some kind of contact information readily available on the board in case people need to reach me and logging in to PM me isn't an option.

So, if that happens, you can get me at zgryphon at that email service Google has; I trust you'll be able to assemble that more readily than spam crawlers will, though who knows how sophisticated those things are these days. I'll be including that info in my sigblock as well, but this anchored post will be here in case, say, the Forum's internal mailer breaks down again and people can't get their password-change messages.

Edit to note: If email isn't working for some reason, you can also try the same name on Twitter.

Y'know, it's always been a niggly little fear in the back of my mind since I heard about Amazon's Mechanical Turk service. What if spammers started using the same thing? An army of human readers trawling through forum posts and such finding e-mails written like that in various different languages, relaying it to the spambot database and going on from there... kinda scary, since Mechanical Turk and such things are proof of concept.

For that kind of manpower expenditure, you'd have to be running your spam operation out of the Third World somewh -

oh. Um... hm.

(And so much for my misguided attempt to keep the AUP above this one in the topic list. My fault, I should've locked this post when I made it.)
