#0, A query on plot details...
Posted by Peter Eng on Apr-11-01 at 01:07 PM
When Lord Farvegnou..um..er... When Lord F is introduced, he refers to an opponent who tried to destroy him, but instead tossed Lord F through time.

Lord F goes on to say that the Wedge was created as a force to oppose said opponent.

Have I missed something, or has the aforementioned nemesis not appeared yet?

If the foe in question has appeared, just hit me with a clue-by-four. That way, I'll have an excuse to go back and re-read UF and try to figure out who the Big Nasty is.

Well, in story context, nobody really knows. Most people just assume that Lord F is out of his mind.

Out of story context, it hasn't appeared.

dear lord.. we've accompanied the Wedge Rats through Ragnarok, and we STILL haven't met this prophesied evil?

I'm scared.

terrified, in fact.

I think I'm going to have some more coffee now, thanks.

This ultimate evil, is, of course, The Wedge Cats of Chi Alpha Tau and their Wedge Offense Force.

OK, so it was a bad wordplay joke. I couldn't resist it. Heh heh.

OK , now you've done it . That little remark might
have been enough to tip the eternal scales of balance.
Now the Powers that Be at Eyrie ar probably going to try
to balance them again by flinging the UF universe into
yet another struggle Good vs. Evil .
And we're gonna have to read it all .
Ahh , the fate of the addicted .

Don't mention it .

Ok, This is one of those moments when you must reach down and pull out the inner Han in you, in the case of the ladies the inner Leia.

I went to high school with Danny Asprin...Robert's son
Of course, I didn't realize this until just before I graduated, but still...

I've also seen the (old site) of M.Y.T.H. inc...at least, that's what it was labelled, but it dissappeard several years ago, now...and I haven't lived in Ann Arbor (MI) since shortly thereafter, so goodness only knows where it went

and, oh yes, I've read all the books but sweet Mythery of Life...I've also read just about every thieves' world book (if that's the right title for the series...it's the ones R. Asprin edited)

Neat. It's been years since I've gone through them. The head projectionist at the movie theater I worked at in college had several sets of sci-fi/fantasy novels that he had stocked up in the booth that he doled out much like a drug dealer. He'd loan one out and it would make the rounds of everyone who worked there before it got back to him. I'm pretty sure he took much pleasure in corrupting all of us. :)

Now, if you don't mind my asking, why would you be floored? I mean, I've been collecting the series since the late 80's, and it started sometime before that.

Just haven't really ever run into anyone who's heard of them in the 6 or so years since I was exposed to them. Although, given the nature of this crowd, I guess I shouldn't be surprised. :) Just took me off guard.

Who hasn't read them? It's my favorite all time series, except for maybe Hitch Hikers Guide, or possibly Dirk Gently, or maybe Pern or maybe... just forget it, I'm going to read some Anne Rice now.
