Who is Didi, and why was she invited to Christmas dinner? Also, why didn't she show up?

I have a headache. I think I may Stalinize that reference.

Didi is a character concept invented by Zoner some years back, when he was planning an Exile story he never got around to writing. He tried to include her in the Symphony under the logical pretense that, as a product of the Exile, she would be around for it; but I found it exceedingly inconvenient to have the job of introducing, explaining and justifying this character (whose origins are somewhat complicated) for a by-the-way reference in a story about somebody else entirely, so I cut her from A Rose for the New Year.

Unfortunately, I missed the mention of her in Christmas Rose.
