I was digging around in a bunch of old notes and whatnot, and ran across this, which I must've jotted down sometime in '01 when I was working on the research and design phase of Symphony No. 1:

EXTERIOR, NIGHT. Utena is on her way back to East Hall from the Secret Forest, looking tired and confused.

UTENA: Man, what the hell was that all about? Oh well. Forget about it. Go to bed.

ANTHY and SILENT BOB appear from behind the archway ahead of her. UTENA pauses, puzzled. SILENT BOB puts down a soapbox, which ANTHY then climbs up onto.

ANTHY (clearing throat importantly): Attention, current winner of the dueling cycle. My name is Anthy Himemiya, and I am the Rose Bride. Until further notice, me and Silent Bob will be hanging with you. That is all.

SILENT BOB nods.

UTENA: ... ?!

I'm not sure what brought that on; I probably watched part of Revolutionary Girl Utena and part of the Clerks cartoon series - which is still my only real exposure to Jay and Silent Bob - in the same sitting and cross-contaminated my brain. I still enjoy the image a lot, though.

Tries to picture Anthy as Jay recreating the "Buffalo Bill" scene in Clerks II

Head explodes like "Scanners."

I'm chuckling about the downstream effects of that change on the series.

Actually, Gryph, according to the notes in my quotefile, you posted that here in the forums on 24 September 2001, as a direct result of putting your new Silent Bob action figure up on the mantle next to your Anthy figure.

You then followed it up with a NXE riff, "Rei and Silent Jon":

"... so Gendou says, 'No fuckin' way!' And I'm all, 'Way, man.' And he's all, 'NO, fuckin', WAY!' And I'm all - hey, where the fuck is Shinji, anyway?"
(Jon shrugs.)
"Oh well. Whatever. So anyway, I say 'Listen, Gendou, I was fuckin' there, OK, and I saw the bitch totally shoot the dude.' But you know Gendou, he just won't believe it. What a fuckin' tool that guy is."
(Jon nods.)

Help, I'm bouncing up and down and giggling insanely and I can't stop!

(Imagining the O_o look on Utena's face at the end is not helping...)

.....
*Shatters*

Okay that's hit me especially hard now that I've only recently seen RGU.

Now I _dare_ someone around here to draw that as a comic strip.

Actually, that cartoonist Mandy who does the wonderful tongue-in-cheek Utena and Sailor Moon stuff might be amenable to somethng this twisted.

Hey, I'm all for it by all means, and I certainly don't think G. would mind. Would you, Gryphon?
