Looks like the site's back up, and none the worse for wear. Good job on the migration, folks!

A couple of things didn't go entirely according to plan (the DNS changeover was designed to take an hour, instead of a day, but there was some confusion as to which name server the domain was actually looking at months ago that ended up monkey-wrenching that plan a bit yesterday), but overall it's been very smooth. Still a few small config tweaks to make, but for the most part they shouldn't affect the user experience.

Good Grodd, I just used the phrase "affect the user experience" unironically.

That's like me with the phrase "the management apologizes for any inconvenience this may cause". Never has this been uttered by me and not been sarcasm.

As an aside, "Good Vibrations" by the Beach Boys (referenced in the thread title, as if anyone didn't know that) is the only mainstream pop song I can think of offhand that features a theremin.

Yeah, apologies for the earworm, but I couldn't resist...

And I saw a citation somewhere that Zeppelin used one in something somewhere, but I can't think of what song that could have been.

Theremin's really more of a movie soundtrack kind of instrument. They're hilariously fun, especially if you* accidentally make one.

According to Wikipedia, he played a modified one during live performances of "Whole Lotta Love" and "No Quarter." Also according to Wikipedia, it's not actually a theremin on "Good Vibrations," but an electronic instrument called a Tannerin. And now you know.

Appropo of nothing, here's a video of a cat's encounter with a theremin: http://youtu.be/bXn4_JkVFVo
