#0, UF, the soundtrack

Just mildly curious here, but has anybody put together mix tapes or CDs based on the song selections from UF stories?

I actually put together the selections from Core #1 (well, most of 'em at any rate. I'm pretty much convinced that some of those bands don't actually exist) and it does make a nice CD. Two CDs actually, which means that either I didn't cut it correctly or there were some long-ass tapes available back in the day.

Any other fans out there experience the Sounds of Eyrie?

I know that my dormmate Jeff (jar@EyrieDCF) is trying to compile the full Core-1 soundtrack.. What he's got is pretty darn cool so far.

I'm pretty sure everything not *in story* (ie, characters performing) is real - what is it you think is not real?

The one I can't seem to track down no matter what I do is the Chord From Hell. I'm guessing that it's part of a song, but haven't had much joy tracking down the band, either.

Ah, The Ego Twins - they were a real, local band. Local to Chris 'Logan' Smith, one of my apartmentmates in college. That came off of their demo tape. Do a search on this in these forums, there are more details in one of the other currently active threads.

Well, that explains why I couldn't find the damn thing. Ah well, 90% of a soundtrack is better than none, and the remainder works quite nicely as a mix anyway.

Now that that mystery has been solved, onward. To bigger and better things! To completely deplete my supply of blank CDs! To more UF mix CDs! :)

'S too bad that Core #2 and #3 are pretty much denuded of music cues. Core #4 should make for a good mix, though. And I am going to have to put together a Rite of Passage disc, if only to hear the transition from James Horner to Pop Will Eat Itself to TMBG. There's just something truly twisted about that selection. I'm proud to be a witness. %)

I thank you. If I thought I could get away with it without being sued for everything, I'd go into buisness.

Hmm. Mental note: dub an extra copy of the complete UF mix collection for a fan auction? Must research.

Before you do, you may want to consider that just because some of our stories don't have soundtrack cues doesn't mean that there aren't soundtracks...

*shrug* I only know what's available publicly. So until I manage to develop long-range telepathy or send the Dial-A-Ninjas out to rummage through your files, I work with the cues named. Such is life.

Are these doors still there? Can some poor unsuspecting Wedge Rat be
[duped|bribed|brainwashed|hacked] into recording this sound?

'Cause it should go on the soundtrack for UF:Core.

(Creepily enough, I hadn't looked at Core 1 in at _least_ 2 years and
I was able to reconstruct the "SKWEEEEEK" and the "wheeet!whio thud." from
memory. That "rrkkkweequeRUNK--", though, that I had to look up.)

Nope, they replace the doors years ago. I think I was still at WPI when that happened.
