>"When will then be now?" >"Soon."I was suddenly struck by an image of Gryphon, lying on his back, painting a ceiling, looking a lot like Charlton Heston, with Gendou Ikari, dressed in a mitre and robes, asking, "When will it be finished?" "When it's ready." "When will it be ready?" "When it's done." "When will it be done?" "When it's finished." This is your brain. This is your brain on pop culture. Any questions? Pity that hasn't made it to video yet. If we could rent a copy of it on DVD, it would speed up the writing process considerably. :)

>>Glad to be of service. But one funny reference does not a font of >>quality make, sadly... Or a good story. Yeesh, what is it with people going for excessive crossovers? (like I can talk :) > p.s. is it me or was fanfiction well written in the early >nineties? Now its...well, bleck. Present company, excepted. It's not all bleck. There's a few other poeple that write decent stuff. The problem is that now anyone with a net connection and a keyboard can write up a Ranma/Pokemon/Zoids/Utena/insert-some-crap-here fusion/lemon/crossover crap and call it a story. In other words 98% of fanfiction.net, the other 2% being those that know what they're doing. --Rod.H (who has some stuff up at ff.net) "And no, I won't tell you where they are...you must find it for yourselve." |

>In other words 98% of fanfiction.net, the other 2% being those that >know what they're doing. What annoyed me about ff.net was that my own Eva-derived fic got downright charbroiled, but I'd go and read stuff that had good reviews, and it was bloody awful. No discernable plot, if you could make it past the third-grade grammar and spellchecker vomitings. As far as I can tell about ff.net, it seems to develop these incestuous little cliques that go around praising each other without regard to the actual quality of the fics involved. To top it off, the recent management stupidities there seem designed to drive away anyone who has a shred of integrity about his work... <sigh> -- Bob ------------------- Microsoft -- because God hates us. |

Did anyone else break their mouse in an effort to get to the 'What's New' page just from seeing the subject line of this thread? I know you didn't mean it, Bob, but, damn. <grin>
